A.J. Yuen Personal Property and Antique Appraisals
Austin J. Yuen, ISA AM is an accredited appraiser specializing in Asian art, with over a decade of experience in antiques, fine art, furniture, and their respective markets. He provides formal, written appraisal reports for personal property, antiques, and fine art.
Having grown up in a family with a deep appreciation for collecting, Austin brings a cultivated understanding of objects and their histories to his work. He approaches each assignment with realism and precision, balancing scholarship with market insight to deliver reliable, well-informed appraisals.
As an independent appraiser, Austin’s work bridges historical significance with contemporary market demand. His clients include academic institutions, museums, insurance companies, charity organizations, estate liquidators, and private collectors seeking clarity and confidence in the appraisal process. Austin plays a pivotal role in building and developing the Asian Art Department at Waddington’s, one of Canada’s leading fine art auction houses.
He currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Chapter of the International Society of Appraisers (2024–present) and sat on the planning committee for the International Chinese Snuff Bottle Society‘s 57th annual convention in Toronto in 2025.
Austin holds a Master’s degree in Art History from the University of Toronto and has completed ISA appraisal courses in core studies and antiques, furniture, and decorative art. His credentials comply with USPAP standards (2023–present). He is fluent in English and Cantonese, and conversational in Mandarin.
