Catherine Williams has been an accredited member of ISA since 1998 and was the Canadian Chapter’s President from 2005 – 2008. She was awarded the ISA’s Award of Merit in 2010. Since 2007 she has served as an external advisor to the Board Acquisitions Committee of the National Gallery of Canada. This latter appointment draws on her knowledge of Canadian and International contemporary art as well as her insights as an appraiser.
Catherine Williams provides fair market values for works of art donated to museums and galleries in Canada. These appraisals comply with the standards set by the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board for certification of cultural property for income tax purposes. She also provides appraisals for works of art donated to charitable institutions. She supplies appraisals for insurance purposes to numerous corporate and private collections. Appraisals for estate planning are offered to families or their executors. As an art consultant she has advised corporate and private collectors on the purchase of over 1000 works of art and for the past 15 years, she has administered public art commissions.
